Former Minister Ong Pang Boon visits Manjusri Sec
Former Minister Ong Pang Boon visited our school on Friday 7 September 2018 as a member of a delegation from Mee Toh Foundation. In 1984, Mr Ong Pang Boon, then Minister of Environment, had officially opened Manjusri Sec School’s original campus located at Sims Drive. He is the last living member of Singapore’s first cabinet of ministers when the country attained its independence.
Mr Ong, together with other directors of the Foundation, held an informal dialogue with principals of Buddhist community affiliated schools so as to better understand the needs of students and the nature of projects in which they could provide assistance. After the meeting, the group toured our existing school facilities. He took great interest in viewing the exhibits at the Manjusri Heritage Corner which included several pictures of him interacting with teachers and students during the school opening ceremony in 1984.
